Fashion | Miss Unkon Summer/Spring 2012/13 MBFWA

This has to be, hands down, my favourite collection that came to light during this years Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia.
So light and flowing with the lovely soft colours broken up by the occasional all black outfit.
I love the second, shorter black dress. Anything with a sharp collar catches my attention IMMEDIATELY. So crisp and clean. But the last dress, the one leading down the runway is simply delicious. It is so fragile and innocent. It almost looks edible!! Must admit my favourite part of the out fit is the embroidery on the front of the skirt. It is just too perfect.

The shoes also fit the collection oh-so perfectly because they aren't loud or attention grabbing at all. The perfectly neutral colour, simple design with 2 wide straps, and the tall wedge are just.... MWAH! PERFECT! With such delicate fabrics and colours using loud and bold shoes would ruin the whole aurora of the collection. And if I do say so myself, those shoes look damn comfortable! Such a rare occurrence in runway shows! I would not mind hiking around in them all day.

It is my dream (THAT IS GOING TO COME TRUE) that I will go to MBFWA next year. UHHHH it would be amazing. And I plan on dragging the beautiful Lydia Bishop along with me!

Tell me what you think! I always love to know.

xo Enjoy.

Fashion | Gus

There once were three skater friends. Add a little design skill, a bit of business smarts and a touch of photography and here you have New Zealand brand, Gus. Gus, a premier New Zealand men's fashion line, was created by Angus Dobson, Hamish McRae and Joe Dowling. Men of the world rejoice, as men's fashion is taking one gigantic leap forward. Gus exposes men's fashion to a new plethora of fabrics, textures and styles that frankly have not been seen in accessible brands before.
So, get on your horses off to Gus's website, which lists stockists and will soon have their own store very, very soon. gus.co.nz GET ON IT.

Just as a side note, who love the models hair? look like mine when I first wake up. Why is it that men can get away with so much more things?!

"Auckland based designer James Dobson created the label Jimmy D in 2004, winning the prestigious Mercedes Start Up Award with his first collection. Jimmy D’s signature look is dark, with a wry sense of humour, combining deconstructed, androgynous, over sized silhouettes with body conscious elements.
Jimmy D continues to win new fans the world over each season and is currently stocked in 20 boutiques through out New Zealand, Australia and the USA and has been featured in international publications such as Japanese and Korean Vogue and Sportswear International where Jimmy D was selected as one of ‘The eight most directional collections today’."

Ever since a saw Jimmy D in one  of the first ever Remix magazines that I bought, I have had a small obsession with his collections. I love the dark feeling to it. It is raw and there is no prettying around. His collections are what they are. Nothing less and nothing more.
I love everything about his design style. From the loose fit to the long hem lines, the use of chiffon to the leather harnesses with long, sharp studs. PURE HEAVEN IN MY EYES.
I have seen the ENCHANTED cape dress before but it didn't have the CHRISTOL harness underneath, and it really adds another dimension to the dress.
I wish I had the shirt in the first image. It is really quite lovely. The long collar, loose fit, low scooping hem line at the back and the long pieces of fabric coming off the sleeves creates a fresh and totally new concept to the white collared shirt.
Needless to say, Jimmy D is defiantly one of my favourite brands that have ever come out og=f good old New Zealand.
